FAQ's and Other Info

What time is the Ceremony / Wedding day plan?

Check out the wedding day events here.

What accommodation is available?

Take a look at our accommodation page for some ideas.

How do I get to Totaranui / Where is it?

In the Abel Tasman National Park. Visit our getting there page for directions and transport ideas.

Dress Code

It's on the beach followed by the homestead, you will be outdoors most of the day (in a marquee for the reception) and you need to be comfortable. It's likely to be a warm sunny day - but evenings can get quite cool at Totaranui so be prepared for both.  Think sun-dresses and shirts.

Gifts

The most important thing is having you celebrate with us. Gifts are not expected however, if you would like to give us a gift there will be a wishing well on the day. We would be very grateful for any contribution which will go toward our honeymoon.

Children

Our wedding day celebrations will be adults only, with the exception of our close family. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and we understand it poses some challenges.

Totaranui and the surrounding area is a great place for a family holiday - so if you have a baby sitter who could come along and look after the kids nearby (perhaps at a bach over the hill or in the camp ground) while you're celebrating with us then we encourage you to.

Please contact us with any questions or to RSVP!
You can RSVP via our form, or contact either of us on the details below. We are happy to answer any questions or offer suggestions to make this a great expereince for you!

Some important things to note about Totaranui camp ground:

  • The camp office is open from 8am - 4pm and has maps of nearby walks, water taxi information and other adventures you can go on including Kayaking days etc.  It also sells items including insect repellent, stamps, postcards, phone cards, gas canisters, candles, ice, sunscreen and snack items.
  • There is a pay phone that takes Spark phone cards only.
  • If you decide to camp, please be aware Totaranui is working toward being completely rubbish free by 2025, so all rubbish and recycling must be taken away with you. All wedding day related rubbish and homestead rubbish will be taken care of by us.
  • The gate at the camp entrance is locked overnight.  1 October to 31 March opening times: 7.30 am to 8.30 pm
  • Fires, including solid fuel BBQ's are only to be used in the fireplaces provided, bring your own firewood, it is no longer sold at the office. Gas cookers and BBQ's may be used outside these areas.
  • No dogs or any other animals, including in vehicles.
  • No unauthorised use of drones.
  • Mobile phone coverage is unreliable at Totaranui, pay phones are onsite and prepaid cards are available from the camp office.

Shops / Groceries / Supplies

The nearest Supermarket is in Takaka (40 min drive), there is a small Dairy type shop in Pohara (30 min drive). You will need to bring chillybins to keep things cold. Ice is available at the Totaranui office.

Accommodation Ideas

There are many options - if you want your own space but are not keen campers, we recommend basing yourselves at a bach over the hill and crashing in one of our spare tents for the night of the wedding. That way you can make the most of the celebrations! There is also limited space in the homestead.

We're happy to help you figure out a plan that works for you - so let us know!
